THE INTERNSHIP
Models of Organizational Behavior
- Support/Collegial/System: The "manager" that I see best fit in exhibiting support/ collegial/system in his team is Billy (the one on the right side of the picture). Their team leader Lyle, although very talented, is a poor communicator. For me, Billy informally became their leader as he easily fills in this gap in their group with the help of his communication skills. He leads his group by supporting them in their individual problems. Neha, one of their team members, admits that although she dreams big, she does not have real-life experience and is nervous about her future. Billy encourages and supports her, as well as, Yoyo, their other team member who broke out of his uptight upbringing and be want he wanted to be. This built trust and camaraderie in their team, so not only did they worked together as colleagues but also as if they were a family. While they grow together as a group in terms of skill, filling each others' weaknesses and leaving no loopholes in their teamwork's capabilities, they also develop as individuals through the course of the movie, with the help of Billy and, eventually, Lyle. We can see that Billy and Nick's team exhibited a mixture of collegial and systems type of organizational behavior as evidenced by the team's partnership and inspiration towards each other.
